Mondays are frequently written about – The Bangles called them Manic, for New Order they were Blue and of course The Happy Mondays named the entire band after them.
We’ve always been a 7 day a week business but it’s fair to say that hospitality is changing as we emerge from the various lockdowns and restrictions of the past 18 months. We’ve been giving this a lot of thought as we navigate Gusto through this new world – balancing our desire to look after our people with recruitment difficulties like no-one in the industry has ever seen.
From 13th September, our food pubs – The One Bull, The Cadogan, The Crown and The Fox – will be closed on Mondays. The One Bull will also start opening on Sunday evenings from this point. These changes will be for a trial period initially but we are looking to make them permanent.
We have two reasons for doing this. Firstly, it means that we can open Tuesday-Sundays each week, giving our customers certainty at a time when it is simply not possible to staff all of our pubs 7 days a week without putting too much pressure on our people. Secondly (and equally importantly), it means that we can move towards a 4 day week for our full time Gusto team. In what can be a relentless industry at times, this feels to us like the right thing to do.
We hope that you will support this move and look forward to seeing you Tuesday-Sunday from 14th September.
The Beerhouse will remain open 7 days a week as usual.
