Easter treats

April 11th 2020       Food, General News, Gusto

Easter in lockdown makes this a very different weekend to normal. One positive is that, for many of us, there is more time to cook and bake.  On that note, I want to introduce some wonderful Easter recipes from my talented friend Toni Brancatisano.

We first met Toni 15 years ago when planning our wedding in Pietrasanta (a town in Tuscany that holds many amazing memories for us across the years). Toni agreed to translate at our wedding ceremony and I remember our first meeting for caffè in the piazza very clearly. I should mention that Mr Marjoram was a little late as he was retrieving our hire car which had been towed away in the night due to us not being able to read Italian parking signs properly (our Italian has moved on since then!). It was immediately clear that we had many things in common with Toni, not least a passion for great food and drink. It’s also worth mentioning that it was our love of Italy that later inspired our company name, Gusto Pronto, in 2008.

I have watched over the years as Toni has achieved remarkable things – she won the Italian equivalent of Masterchef, has hosted several TV series, has written a book and is now based in Rome doing many things food related including private food tours and writing her amazing food blog. She also has two beautiful teenage children. Like us, Italy is of course currently on lockdown in the fight to beat Covid-19.

So today, I’d like to share with you a few of Toni’s Easter recipes…

filled chocolate eggs

hot cross buns

easter lamb

casatiello napoletano

I hope you enjoy these recipes and, from our house to yours, have a great Easter weekend and stay safe…
